Article by Chris Jenkins

Hundreds of thousands of unpublished authors today have manuscripts waiting in a pile at a publishing house somewhere to be noticed. Some of them did, but couldn’t get through the next pile; others never will. Out of all the potential books out there, maybe two or three can make it to fame and fortune in the next few years. There isn’t a sure ticket to being published quickly if one takes the conventional route. Submission of manuscripts to publishing companies is mostly trial and error, involving a long and tearful journey of rejections and refusals. Unless an author owns the company itself or has friends in high places, then he can’t expect special treatment. In light of recent developments in technology and book publishing, however, there are easier and quicker ways to becoming a published author. The digital shift has made publishing more flexible and accessible to authors all around the world. Books can be sold in a variety of forms, contrary to the single traditional way of distribution through offset printing. Publishing options and marketing opportunities for writers have widened considerably through the years.Self-PublicationBasically, when a writer finally gets a deal at a commercial publishing house, the company buys his manuscript, takes care of editing, artwork, cover designs, printing, advertising, and everything else. As for the sales, royalties are given to the writer for every book sold. However the process of penetrating publishers is too long-winded so that an author who wants to “get my book published” before the next millennium may opt to do all the above tasks himself. In order to produce a self-published book, the writer invests just enough funds for editing, printing, and distribution of his work, over which he has complete, unbounded control. He gets the full profit for the sale of his book, and continues to reserve all rights. Electronic BooksLiterature does not necessarily have to come in paperbacks these days. Publication, sale, and distribution of electronic books have grown more popular as a consequence to the growing developments of today’s virtual economy. A number of software are available, which can convert text documents to electronic books with chapters, illustrations, and page numbers. Several websites also cover advertising and distribution at reasonable costs. Although electronic versions may not give the author the feel of having a “real” book, they can be as marketable and promising as actual printouts. Blogging SitesThere are a lot of opportunities on the web for writers who want to earn money from the work that they do. Some sites pay for literary contributions, and share the revenue raised either per view or per purchase of the written work to the author. Many writers who submit to sites that pay per click usually divide their novels into several parts in increase traffic, thereby increasing revenue. Personal WebsitesBooks can be published at an author’s personal domain. He can either allow free reading of his work, or charge minimum fees for full downloads. Income opportunities also come with companies that affiliate with website owners to place ads on their pages and share a portion of the revenue whenever readers click on ad links. There is a variety of ways to broadcast literary works aside from print media. The option to publish a well-written in electronic form does not make it any less of a book. It is how a piece is received by its readers that determines its marketability.

Save and Sale: That’s All About Making Money in Book Publishing Business

By: Leo Lam
Posted: Oct 01, 2009

Making money and cutting costs. In tough economic times, these are the 2 great commandments for any businesses. In reality, can we really achieve these goals in the book publishing business? First we have to dig out the biggest chunk of expense in the cycle of book publishing.

To publish a book, the major cost mainly comes from the printing stage. Of course, that may well depend on how much promotional fees you are willing to spend, how much you are willing to pay for the illustrator and writer etc. But speaking in general, the majority of the cost to create a book is the production cost itself.

Most publishers and independent authors nowadays are more focused on cutting their budgets to print shorter runs by printing books digitally, or by what they call On-Demand Book Printing services. The advantage to run books digitally can offer smaller initial runs and quick turn around time. Usually the price per book for a 60 pager 8.5″x11″ full color paperback will cost from – per book, based on initial runs of 250 pieces. The total cost for print runs of 250 paperbacks will be around ,600 including set up fees. It seems the start up fee to print books had dropped a lot compared to while back. But don’t forget cutting down cost by making smaller print runs doesn’t mean you have saved money on production cost. What it really means is “you are willing to pay higher amount of money per book in order to get a smaller amount of print runs.”

Despite the vast printing quality difference between the two, digitally printed books also don’t offer many finishing solutions as traditional offset printing do, such as spot varnishing, embossing/debossing, metallic inks and PMS inks. According to market responses, readers are more likely to purchase a book by the sense of attractive appearance, including cover design (different finishing options) and printing quality (vividness of colors and optimal resolution). With lack of ability to offer different finishing options for book cover and lesser printing quality, it will certainly affect the sales of a book.

Xlibris To Promote Self-Published Books With Publishers Weekly

In the last decade, many domestic printers had made their moves to adapt to the new changing economy. Many have either upgraded their equipments to offer the ability of on-demand printing or have relocated their facility to overseas or partnership their business with overseas printers. The advantage of a domestic printer merging to overseas facility is there will be no communication barrier for the North American customers, while having books printed professionally with much cheaper prices. With the price mentioned previously for 250 paperbacks may well enough to produce 300 full color hardcover books, finishing with casebound, Smyth sewn, cover finished with lamination and mounted on 2.5mm board. This is the typical specification for a professional looking hardcover book similar to the premium collection of Harry Potter that’s selling at Indigo and Chapters.

The question is how safe and secure to deal with overseas printers, or having transaction done remotely? The answer is you don’t deal with company located on the other side of the world, you are dealing with local printing company or North American company that already have their production line relocated or combined with the overseas power force. Which means transaction is done domestically and production is done remotely. We called them “domestic-overseas printer”. The main objective to print with “domestic-overseas printer” is to save money without sacrifice the quality. By doing so, “domestic-overseas printer” will provide color proofs (mostly digital proof that is 90% close to the quality of the final product) and a set of white dummy (specific paper stock assembled in the exact format of the final book). The proofs and dummy will be well enough to ensure the outcome of the final product and it will be sent to your door for approval before mass production. In addition, you can also request for press-proof with minimal fee to reassure printing quality and color accuracy.

In the North American book industry, cost difference between paperbacks and hardbound books is substantial. Hardcover books with nicely designed dust jackets can sell at much higher price than paperbacks. By taking the advantage of using “domestic-overseas printer”, the cost for making hardcover book can be reduced 30% up to 60% compare to local printers. The amount of money saved can be utilized to other areas such as promotions and marketing to increase the book sales. Certainly, Save and Sale is an essential strategy for those small to medium size publishers and independent authors to profit on book publishing during the time of recessions.

A lot of the time in publishing, it’s the publishers’ way that will take more than. Even if you believe you’ve an excellent manuscript, they’ll always uncover part exactly where you need to transform some thing as a condition for obtaining your book in print. You might feel otherwise, but they’ll be searching into finding our book published in hundreds or a large number of copies. Every of those copies could be worth a great deal of funds for you personally and it’s like you’ll be spending so considerably even prior to you earn it. The worst element would be whenever you finally sell your book and you only get a fraction of the profits. It is a great factor then that in the event you cannot locate very good publishers within the market place that you could go about publishing your way. This strategy is known as self publishing. In every sense with the word, you recognize that you will be doing every thing on your very own. This might mean taking time out from writing one more book. There are, however, firms that permit you the time for writing your second book although they manage the editing, production, distribution, every little thing. Really don’t worry, this may nonetheless be under self publishing and you still call the shots. When you’ve written out your manuscript and you’ve completed every one of the tweaks for it to produce it best, you can just send it to this publishing home. There will be no dilemma in regards to the editing due to the fact they’ll do the editing for you personally. For your most portion, you may need a fresh set of eyes reading your function seeking out for errors in grammar, and so on. and you’ll have it with this publishing organization. Based on your specifications, the book will be printed out inside the way which you want it, how several copies you would like and it’ll be sold for your cost that you simply state. The most effective point about this can be you’ll be raking inside the dough for your book when it sells. Self publishing doesn’t need to be that hard and also you can start off selling your books devoid of the hassle of finding the correct publishers and acquiring your work to their standard of style.

A Book Publisher’s Point Of View

			By: Oli Osorhan
Posted: Nov 09, 2009

Many writers aspire to write books. Writing a book is a long, involved, difficult process. Book publishing is harder. A writer may submit his book repeatedly only to be turned down. The writer may eventually succeed. Wouldn’t it have been easier to get published the first time? Is that possible?

You can improve your chances of a publisher accepting your book manuscript if you understand more about what happens at the publisher’s desk. Book publishers are busy people with several projects bombarding their desks every day. They must decide quickly about what will sell. They must also delegate their time efficiently to keep the business running. Only occasionally do publishers actually seek out work. Let’s look at a typical work day of a publisher to help you understand book acceptance and book publishing.

PERSIST AND PERSEVERE

Writers must be persistent. Regardless of how many times a publisher rejects your book manuscript and throws your ideas in the trash, you have to keep going back for more discouragement. Eventually you’ll make it in the door. If you can get all the way through, you will finally get to a place where publishers accept more of your work. When working with a book publisher, the rule is the same. If you have a book that you know will sell, you must persevere to get the publisher’s attention. Most likely, you will be sending excerpts of your book, not the entire book, to a publisher. As you continually send your manuscript or book excerpts to publisher after publisher, you should try to market it in different ways. Publishers seek a particular kind of writing; they will dismiss anything that doesn’t meet their criteria and high standards. Variation in your marketing techniques may turn a rejected book into an accepted book.

WHAT DO BOOK PUBLISHERS WANT?

Book publishing is a strange business. People’s tastes are somewhat fickle. A book publisher has to keep up with what kinds of books will sell. It seems mysteries will always have a place on the bookshelves. Crichton and Grisham may tie up the book market until they are finished. That is just one example from one genre of books. Publishers have to keep track of what is selling in all areas of literature. The best way for you to get your work noticed is to make it look similar to what is already selling in the marketplace. Be careful not to imitate style or voice of another author. Write with your own unique words while imitating the use of popular public opinion. Another way to improve your chances of getting published is to find out who’s publishing what.

ARE YOU MARKETING TO THE RIGHT PUBLISHER?

Some publishers specialize in a certain kind of writing. If you are writing a novel, you’ll look stupid (and get rejected) if you send it to publishers who publish technical manuals. How do you find out who is the most likely candidate to publish your work? There are reference manuals, such as Writer’s Market, at your library that will tell you who’s publishing what and what publishers are seeking. It will contain valuable information leading you to children’s book publishers, novel publishers, and textbook publishers. If the handbook at your library is not up to date, your next option is to check out the new releases and best sellers rack at the bookstore. Buy a few books and read them. You’ll have a much better feel for the book market as a consumer first, and book writer second.

Book publishing is difficult to break into. It can be helpful to approach the issue from the direction of the publisher. Before you submit your manuscript again, improve your chances of acceptance by following these tips:

1) Change your marketing style so that you grab attention;

2) Make sure you are a book consumer yourself. You’ll get a better feel for what’s selling and what a publisher will buy. You’ll also find out who is publishing which types of books.

3) Finally, by buying the product you are trying to sell, you will improve the book economy all together. Publishers need to see people buying books before they can commit to publishing more.

Many authors begin their careers with the single goal of getting their book published by a reputable publisher. Book publishing is difficult to accomplish. It takes many months of work and extensive preparation. Writing a book involves intricately woven ideas. A book is a project, and it may contain many other projects that involve research, development, and marketing. Most authors are disillusioned about the intensive process of creating a full, coherent book. Writing a book and finding a publisher is like nothing you have ever done before. It will take extensive and intensive work and development. It will also probably include much of everything you know, and more.

Article by Dee Power

The wrong book publisher can turn your dream of becoming an author into a nightmare. One out of every eight people call themselves a writer, which means there are roughly 24 million people in the United States who carry that banner. Unfortunately there are charlatans and scam artists just waiting to ambush the unsuspecting author. How can a novice writer protect themselves against unscrupulous book publishers?

Anyone can call themselves a book publisher. Always remember money flows towards the author from the book publisher, not the other way around.

What to look out for: The book publisher charges the author a fee up front, to have their book accepted, considered or read. These fees are sometimes called a reading fee, intake fee or administrative fee.

The book publisher directs authors toward specific editing services or gives authors’ names to these services, with the caveat that if the author hires the editing service, their book will be published. Every book needs editing. It is part of the publisher’s job to provide that editing at no cost.

The book publisher offers a contract where the author has to pay for part of the publishing costs. The acquisition editor will sometimes say that the publisher’s list is full for that season, but the author’s book has so much going for it, they would still like to publish it. However the publisher’s resources are fully committed and the author will have to share in the costs.

Some book publishers offer contracts that are unfair, such as they obtain rights that should remain with the author of the work. Some book publishers’ contracts contain a clause that if the author says anything negative about the book publisher, there is a monetary fine. There are also book publishers who hold the rights for a lengthy time period, regardless of whether the book is still in print or selling.

The book publisher doesn’t disclose they are a Publish on Demand (POD), or vanity/subsidy publisher, or actually denies they are a POD book publisher. There is nothing wrong with an author using a subsidy/vanity book publishing company as long as the author is well aware of the disadvantages.

Publish on Demand books are not, as a rule, stocked by bookstores. Some POD book publishers will insist that their books are available in book stores, as a way to get around this issue. Available is not the same thing as stocked. Available only means the book can be ordered through the bookstore. Since the majority of books sold, are stocked and sold by bookstores, this situation puts a damper on sales.

What else can a writer do to check if a book publisher is legitimate? Go to the local bookstore and see if any of the book publisher’s titles are stocked. Ask the manager if necessary. Search the Internet using the book publisher’s name plus the word ‘scam’ or ‘complaint.’A book publisher’s website is targeted to its customers. If the website promotes the books they’ve published that’s a good sign. If the website is focused on recruiting writers, that’s a bad sign. Go to forums or bulletin boards that are for writers and see what the authors who have published with the book publisher you’re considering have to say about their experience.

3 Myths About the Book Publishing Process You Should Know

			By: Anthony Obey
Posted: Feb 23, 2011

If there’s one thing authors have to know more about before expecting to succeed in the print industry, it’s the book publishing process. Some authors may underestimate its demands while others may be too intimidated by some concepts of it that they become too afraid to even try. Don’t be either of them and be aware of the most common myths surrounding the book publishing processes.

1. Once you have completed writing your book, it is up to the publisher to market it.

You, as the author, write your book. The publishers reproduce and distribute your book. Now, who is responsible for marketing your book? Still you.

As the author your work does not end in putting the last punctuation mark in your manuscript and handing it to the publishers for printing. Many authors have gone after big names in publishing thinking it would be enough to bring the book to the top of the bestseller lists, but ending up disappointed. The reality is that getting a large publishing house to publish your book does not guarantee massive sales. Neither will your book self itself once it gets on the shelves. Ultimately, the success of your book still lies in your hands, and you have to take marketing seriously if you are to make your book a smash hit among readers. Therefore, learn the most effective book marketing strategies, create a blueprint outlining your marketing plan, and put that plan into action. Among all the people involved in the book publishing process, you are the key person. You know the exact reason why you wrote your book and how it will fill a need in the target market, so you are the primary person who can best promote your book.

2. After you have completed your manuscript, it will take years before your book gets finally published.

How many times have you heard the story of a now famous author who has been turned down by numerous publishing companies for years before getting a big break and finally getting a book on print with a happy ever after? Indeed, traditional publishing can make finding a publisher a very long and difficult task considering the rejection and challenges you have to go through in trying to convince publishing houses your book is worth the investment. But nowadays traditional publishing is not the only option. Authors now have the choice to self-publish or publish a book with a print-on-demand (POD) publisher. In self-publishing, the amount of time it will take to publish a book will depend on how prompt the author can learn the process and get the financial resources required. In publishing with a POD publisher, your book can usually be published in 30, 60, or 90 days after you have finished your manuscript. With more options for the modern day author, there is no reason why you should get stuck for years trying to get a publishing house to print your book.

3. The publisher knows what’s best and therefore controls all aspects of the book.

In the book publishing processes, authors have traditionally let the publishers decide on the look, editing and other aspects of the book because of the idea that publishers know more about those aspects than they do. But though publishers may have more experience with regard to it, you as the author still have the most in-depth understanding about what your book is all about. The trends the publishers know can only serve as your guide, so check to see that the publishing contract gives you your desired amount of control when it comes to the layout and editing of your book.

Article by Chris Jenkins

Writing a book is not the easiest job in the world. And what happens after that — getting that book published — is ten times harder. Every season a new best-selling author comes into the picture with this gigantic idea of a book, and many aspiring authors hopelessly slump to their seats realizing how their own writing is far from ever making it to the charts, let alone getting approved by a publisher. Yet after an interview or two, the best-selling author shares to the world how many hundreds of times his manuscript was actually rejected — and the aspiring writers sink further down the couch. The truth is, despite the many billions of hardbound and paperback books there are present on the shelf today, still even more unread manuscripts are waiting to be published. Publishers and agents receive incredible loads of unsolicited manuscripts on a day-to-day basis. If the company does not entertain unsolicited work, none of them are ever even read. But if by any chance one or two of these packages gets through, they would have to pass yet another long-winded process to finally make it out into the world alive. However, like any other goal and process there are other ways, backdoors, to getting a book published. Before getting there, one must be able to write well. This means having gone through the long and tedious process of writing “barely tolerable” manuscripts and of receiving painfully honest critiques. To judge the quality of a piece of literature is not the job of the author who wrote it; most written work sound spectacular to the ears of those who made them but could not, by any possible means, be endured by common readers. Before making the first attempt at getting a book published, it is necessary for that book go have gone through serious, unbiased, and critical editing. Getting There The Traditional Way Persistence is a key ingredient in this business. A constant delivery of manuscripts to publishers and agents, although seemingly futile, is bound to get some attention. Although rejections may be expected, these must not become a hindrance to the possibility of publication. It is, however, truly important not to harass people by forcing unsolicited manuscripts or unwanted personal contact. Doing so will burn the chances of authoring a book altogether. Making a Name First It is not uncommon that a book by a virtually anonymous, first-time author cannot get the attention it deserves. However, if that virtually anonymous first-time author makes his way to Hollywood by sheer luck or talent, then any book that would come out from beneath his pen would attract mind-blowing sales and readership. If the material can’t come first, then the author can — by making front-page news. Going Solo When all else fails, there is always the option to self-publish a manuscript. This way, the author is not at the mercy of publishers and agents who will determine whether or not his book is worthy of making it to the shelves; he can make it happen himself. One very important prerequisite to self-publication is rigorous editing, since nobody else will take charge of this task but the author himself — unless he chooses to hire a personal editor. Also, a considerable sum of money needs to be set aside for printing, distribution, marketing, and advertising, all of which will be covered by the writer for the sale of his book. If none of the above options work, it is important, still, to keep on writing. The next big break might just be waiting around the corner for the last “barely tolerable” manuscript that would become the completion of a long road of waiting and the start of fame itself.

California Publishing Power Attorney Tells How Literary Super Agents Use Auctions to Sell Manuscripts to Book Publishers

			By: R. Sebastian Gibson
Posted: Aug 06, 2009

When a literary agent knows he or she has a property that will entice multiple publishers due to the celebrity status of the author or based on the marketability or newsworthiness of the project, most top literary agents today will either immediately notify the publishers and editors chosen by the agent to contact that the book will be sold by means of an auction or wait until he or she has some further indication of the amount of interest in the project.

If you have a publishing, entertainment or literary rights legal matter, visit our website at http://www.sebastiangibsonlaw.com and call us at any of the numbers easily found on our website.

While some agents may still have luncheons with the publishers and editors they’ve worked with on previous projects, the days when such loyalties determined who would be chosen by an agent for a project based on informal meetings have long since gone by the wayside in favor of auctions that bring out the best possible terms or at least the highest offers of an advance for a writer.

Once a literary power agent sees that there are more than one book publisher or editor interested in a book project, he or she will usually send out an e-mail to all of the other editors who have received the manuscript or book proposal of the agent’s intent to hold an auction outlining the rules of the auction, including the time and date, and may request that the bidders to also submit a marketing plan.

Once the editors are notified that a book is going to auction (a notification that can backfire if made when the editors are first presented with a book proposal and there is no interest in the book), the acquisitions committee at the publishing house must work quickly instead of taking weeks or months before deciding to acquire a project and what the publishing house should offer for the project. As one editor has stated, upon learning that a book will be sold at auction, sometimes that makes the editor want it more if they really love the book, and sometimes it makes them want it less if they’re not that all that interested in the first place.

For an editor to want to participate in an auction, the editor must truly love the book and its marketability. Only if they love it, will they feel it’s worth it to ask the acquisitions committee to read the manuscript or book proposal quickly, schedule other committee meetings, and basically drop everything else to concentrate on this one project (in between all the other “drop everything” projects).

For a publisher to participate in an auction, there must normally first be at least one if not two or three positive reads by members of the editorial department. Only then will the editorial director approve its distribution to the rest of the editorial committee. With a book going to auction, these actions are accompanied by deadlines that speed up the normal acquisitions process.

If a publisher or editor wants a project desperately for their list, they may try to pre-empt it, by offering a lucrative offer they feel may be enough money to persuade the agent to take the project out of auction. Publishers want to do this to avoid overpaying for a project they are extremely interested in, when the bidding gets out of hand. A pre-empt, however, is usually given for a limited period of time, usually twenty-four hours.

If the super agent or power attorney feels that the pre-empt offer isn’t sufficient, he will try to turn the preempt into a floor, a minimum guaranteed amount and terms for the author. The publisher who is given the floor bid has the right to top the best bid by ten percent if the book auction takes place and bids other than the floor bid are received.

          ]]>

The auction can last for hours, days or weeks, depending upon the amount of interest in the manuscript. Usually they last for one to two days.

In the rules the agent sets for the auction, the most important rule that must be set is that the author will not be bound by the winning bid but rather reserves the right to choose an offer based on all the terms of a publisher’s proposal and not simply the amount of the advance.

A “Rolling” or “Rounds” auction takes place by telephone or e-mail (and sometimes fax for confirmations) with the first bid (or the best preliminary bid) becoming the floor for the minimum advance guaranteed to the author by the publisher. The publishers through their editors are then asked to make higher bids and the bidding continues until there is only one editor left standing, the winning bid.

In more detail, in a typical “Rolling” or “Rounds” auction, once all the initial bids are received from the interested editors, the lowest bid is given the opportunity to make a bid that exceeds the highest bid, based on the advance to be given to the author. Following that, the next-lowest bid is given the opportunity to re-bid at an amount higher than the current highest bid. Those who don’t re-bid for a higher amount than the highest bid drop out of the auction, and the rounds continue with each round starting with the lowest bidding publisher. Once the publishers have given their highest bid and/or dropped out of the bidding, and one bid stands out above the rest with the highest bid being the largest advance guaranteed to the author, the auction ends.

A “Best Bids” or “Best Offer” auction on the other hand, typically requires the publishers and their editors to submit their best bids by a certain time and date. Contrary to the “Rounds” or “Rolling” auction which primarily focuses on the amount of the advance to be given by the publisher to the author for the project, a “Best Bids” auction also takes into account other factors such as the marketing plan and publicity, where the book will fit into the publisher’s list and their commitment to the project, the royalty rates and the levels of book sales at which they kick in, the rights acquired as well as the amount of the advance.

The rules of any auction can be varied by the agent or attorney. There are no requirements that the auction take place only in one form or another. If the auction develops the interest of other publishers at a late date, the rules of the auction may also be changed by the agent.

Even after an auction, the writer is not obligated to sign a contract with the winning bid. The author can consider all the factors such as the strength of a publisher before choosing to sign with the winning bid or a lesser bid for other reasons, trading for instance a higher advance for a higher royalty.

A third type of auction is an informal auction where an agent haggles over several days with the publishers interested in the project until one bid is selected. This type of auction may occur where there are only a small number of publishers interested in the project.

Finally, it should be noted, some books are sold without auctions at all. Auctions are utilized when there is interest in a project by two or more publishers, and usually three or more and there are an infinite number of ways their rules can be set.

In representing the best interests of an author, it is often best to conduct a “Best Bids” auction that allows the independent publishers who don’t have the money to compete in a bidding war based on the amount of the advance given to the author but who can persuade an author and his or her agent that they’ll promote the book and support the author more extensively than a larger publishing house with so many big names under it’s umbrella.

Having independent publishers participate in an auction can cause the other publishers to offer terms in association with their offer they might not otherwise when bidding simply on the basis of the amount of the advance and when they know they are only competing amongst the other conglomerate publishing houses.

In the case of a project that has film or television potential, the agent determines when it would be best to offer the project to film and/or television studios, producers or stars with their own production companies. A project can be offered at the same time it’s offered to book publishers or as is more common, after a book publishing deal has been struck.

Additional attorney fees are charged for submitting the project to publishers for the sale of foreign translation rights, and submissions for television and film rights.

The Truth About Christian Book Publishing Agents…Revealed

			By: Anthony Obey
Posted: Feb 23, 2011

Unlike other book publishers, Christian book publishing agents offers services to Christian writers for them to publish the books that may help the Christian community. They do not require the author to pay for high royalties just for them to publish their books. These agents offer Christian resources such as textbooks, devotionals, books on relationships and children’s books. Some offers free services not only to Christian authors but even to Christian readers and interested individuals. These agents are also considerate and possess the quality of a real Christian. They inhibit the lifestyle of Christ and give sympathy to the needs of the Christian community. Because of their deep longing to reach the world, they use the best tool, which is publishing and distributing books to the Christian and even to non-Christian community.

Christian book publishing agents does not operate to gain profit. They are service oriented and works for the best of the people in achieving the mission that the Lord gives to them. This entails that Christian books are relatively cheaper as compared to other fictional, non-fiction, educational and other non-Christian books. Though the price is not comparable to other books, the treasure that one can dig from it is priceless. There are even some agents who freely give their books to people. Some distribute free Bibles to Churches, schools, hospitals and even in jails. These people do it for the purpose of serving the Lord through its people.

Publishing agents also give credits and discounts to people who belong to any Church ministries, particularly the Pastors, Evangelists and other Church Leaders. They often launch their books through different kinds of ministries that may enhance and widen the mission field. However, these agents try to check the background of the author and make sure that the books that they are publishing will be helpful to the reader for there are some cases that books may stir up confusion to people. That is why these agents play a vital role in the Christian Community for they became the agent of the unfolding of the Word of God to the people.

Christians believe that the Word of God is the truth and it brings light to the life of every Christians. Because of that, the revelation of the role of Christian agents is not an ordinary thing that one may unfold. The truth behind their work reveals the importance that each Christian may give to them. It will be very helpful for the Christian community to keep on praying for the safety of these agents. Through constant prayer, Christian may become a part of the Christian world book publishing. The prayer of one may help them reach the goal of the great commission. Thus, it can be concluded that these agents were not ordinary agents but can be considered as missionaries of the current era. Their lives may often be at stake, which means that prayers and support is greatly needed for them to carry out their mission, the mission that is set for each of us.

Article by John Collins

If there’s one thing authors have to know more about before expecting to succeed in the print industry, it’s the book publishing process. Some authors may underestimate its demands while others may be too intimidated by some concepts of it that they become too afraid to even try. Don’t be either of them and be aware of the most common myths surrounding the book publishing processes.1. Once you have completed writing your book, it is up to the publisher to market it.You, as the author, write your book. The publishers reproduce and distribute your book. Now, who is responsible for marketing your book? Still you.As the author your work does not end in putting the last punctuation mark in your manuscript and handing it to the publishers for printing. You know the exact reason why you wrote your book and how it will fill a need in the target market, so you are the primary person who can best promote your book.2. With more options for the modern day author, there is no reason why you should get stuck for years trying to get a publishing house to print your book.3. The publisher knows what’s best and therefore controls all aspects of the book.In the book publishing processes, authors have traditionally let the publishers decide on the look, editing and other aspects of the book because of the idea that publishers know more about those aspects than they do. But though publishers may have more experience with regard to it, you as the author still have the most in-depth understanding about what your book is all about. The trends the publishers know can only serve as your guide, so check to see that the publishing contract gives you your desired amount of control when it comes to the layout and editing of your book.
